We Made A Jackson Pollock! And A Cool Video!

Hey Guys and Gals!

As promised, here’s the art project we’ve been working on! If you couldn’t tell from the photos in our last update, things got pretty messy. We got about 10 people together, and made a big Jackson Pollock on a piece of plywood. I find it pretty funny that a lot of people who see it immediately ask, “Hey, how did you do that?”, so in response to the overwhelming demand, we’ve made a tongue-in-cheek instructional video on how to make a Jackson Pollock of your own. Enjoy! (P.S. Watch it in HD if your internet is fast enough!)

In addition, being the time-lapse/stop-motion fanatics that we are, we also put together a time-lapse of the whole project, check it out:

And finally, here’s a link to the rest of the great photos that Sarah and Ian took!

Aaaand We’re Back! With Lot’s of News!

Hello everyone! First of all, thanks so much for waiting patiently while we migrated our site to WordPress! The switch is finally complete, and we’re really excited about some of the great new features that we’re releasing today:

  • Post Summaries! To conserve space on the home page, now we show summaries of each post. Click the title or the ‘Continue reading’ button to see more!
  • Comments! We have a new threaded commenting system! Now you can comment using your Facebook or Twitter profile! Unfortunately, all of our old comments were lost in the transition, so be nice and leave us some!
  • Moar Comments! Now all of our products have a comment box below them. If you own or like something in our shop, be sure to let us know with a nice comment!
  • Music! Now our music player appears on every page, just click the little brown box in the bottom-left-hand corner of the screen to pop it out, or click any link with a play button next to it.
  • Submissions! Do you have art, music, or just something cool you’d like to share with us? We’ve streamlined our submission process, just hover over the ‘Submit Something Weird’ button near the top of our sidebar and a simple form will pop up.

We’ve got a whole slew of new pages and features in the works that we’re really excited about, so keep your eyes peeled for when we roll them out! In the meantime, here’s a sneak peak of a little project we’ve been working on.

More news and blog posts coming tomorrow! We love you!

We’re Switching To WordPress!

Hey Everybody!

I hope you’ve been enjoying our humble blog, we’ve certainly been happy about all the comments we’ve been getting recently! We’re happy to announce that our traffic is on the rise, and it’s high time we upgraded our blogging platform to make commenting and interacting with us more user-friendly and fun! So, we’re switching to wordpress!

That being said, things might be a little loopy for a few days while we make sure everything is in order. If you are unable to make a purchase at our shop, don’t worry, we’ll have it fixed really soon! We’ll let everyone know when everything’s all set in place.

Cheers!

A Little Bit Weird Spotted At Cornell!

You might recognize one of these faces, because this isn’t the first time Christie’s been featured on our blog. As a matter of fact, she herself owns every single one of our shirts, including our dress!

Yeah, she’s pretty awesome.

Last time she sent us fan photos she was in Egypt! This time she is accompanied by her friends Ariel and Marie, and I’ve got to hand it to these girls, they really know how to rock those tees!

Thanks Christie, Ariel & Marie! We love when our friends (you!) send us photos, so if you’ve got any, send them our way!

Hey, Plants Have Feelings Too!

So my girlfriend studied plant biology, and she grew me one of these amazing plants from a seed. It is called a Mimosa Pudica, and it is often referred to as the “Tickle-Me Plant”. As you will see in this 20 second video, it is sensitive to touch and heat, and I must admit, they make a great friend to keep on your desk. I named mine Shirley.

On a similar note, I just found photos of these colorful trees on flickr. According to wikipedia, the Eucalyptus deglupta (also known as the Rainbow Eucalyptus) gets its vibrant colors from its irregular shedding schedule in which the red bark peels away to reveal the bright green innards of the tree. I hope you find it as beautiful as I do.
